For children of all ages who need to learn how to skate:

- Montclair State University Learn to Skate Classes
For children who are looking to get on the ice and try ice hockey:
- New York Rangers Learn to Play Program - provides full gear for free!
- New Jersey Devils Learn to Play Program - provides full gear for free!
- Buds 4 Hockey
- Spartans Hockey Weekly Clinics at Fritz Dietl Rink in Hillsdale (Paramus rec team, but all kids can participate)
- Ice Vault (Wayne) Atoms Program
- Montclair State University Learn to Play Program
Every local rink has programs that cater to older players, whether they are new or experienced. A few of those programs include:
- Cutting Edge Ice Academy (Elmwood Park) has many clinics to choose from, that are more for experienced players.
- Spartans Hockey has weekly clinics for beginners and experienced players that are 8 and under, as well as 9 and above. They are affiliated with Paramus, but are open to anyone.
- Montclair State University has clinics throughout the year.
